Galvanized Stock Tank Veggie Garden – Update

I made a visit out to my client to check on there veggie garden and snapped a few photos to show the progress of the stock tank containers. The plants are growing wonderfully.

Before Planting
Fully Planted and Thriving

This is my stock tank at home. The tomato plants have been great this year, even though I still need to get the sticker off the front. I purchased our stock tank from Tractor Supply, while the large ones above I special ordered from Zane Feed & Supply located in Zanesville, Ohio.

  1. are you concerned about growing vegetables in these? i have read research from different state extension horticultural programs that express concern about chemicals leaching into the soil from the galvanizing process.

  2. Hello Skyomie, br /br /I followed up with the manufacture on the containers, and they assured there was no risk of chemicals leaching into the soil. Their product is used to feed beef livestock, agriculture and for storing maple syrup and have to be tested in those cases. Thank you for the comment, just wanted to give you a follow up.

    • I would love to know about the drainage holes and stones in the bottom before you plant. How did you do the drip system?
