Memorial Day

Uncategorized

Memorial Day was absolutely beautiful. We had a wonderful day with family and friends and being thankful for all those who served and are serving for us to enjoy the day. We went for a walk through the neighborhood and noticed all the American flags being hung for the season. I think a flag is one of the most welcoming signs on a home, what do you think?

Using Overstock in the Garden

Uncategorized
Last summer I ordered a patio umbrella for our house from Overstock. I was very happy with both the quality and the price and often check the site for items we can use at our house and in the garden. Here are some items I found on Overstock that would be the perfect addition to any backyard.
Bubble chair
This would be great hanging under a big tree in the woods or under a trellis. I would change the pillows to something more natural compared to something found in a disco.

Outdoor Shower.
Living in landlocked Central Ohio, there are not very many needs for an outdoor shower. Someday we will have a lake house that will allow us to have an outdoor shower.

We are also on the constant search for interesting containers and garden features, and one of my favorite sources for inspiration and sources is 1st Dibs. Galvanized Stock Tanks in the Garden

Uncategorized

I have mentioned before that I have used galvanized stock tanks for our veggie gardens. The are the prefect solution to growing large tomatoes, lettuce and peppers in a smaller space. I am using these containers again for a client, but on a much large scale. While sourcing the larger containers I came across these great alternative uses for the stock tanks in the garden/yard.

Planted with evergreens and placed on wheels, the troughs create a large garden gate.

McCoy Arts Center – Event Contaniers

Uncategorized

This weekend we provided some containers for an event with the McCoy Arts Center located here in New Albany. The container were for an event that was going to be off site, so needed to announce to attendees the entrance. These containers will grow out nicely over the summer to trail down the edges, but already start out nice and large for the spring.

If you live in the Central Ohio area, keep your eye on the McCoy Center and next seasons’ activities. We had a wonderful time this year at an event by the Lee Brothers and cooking as a family. I am excited to see the events that are planned for the next season.

The Miller House, Columbus Indiana

Uncategorized

On our summer to do list is visiting the Miller House in Columbus, Indiana. Open to the public through the Indianapolis Museum of Art, this amazing house and more importantly gardens by Landscape architect Dan Kiley (other works include the JFK Library, Chicago Botanical Garden and Gateway Arch) will be an unlimited source of inspiration . Here is the official information on the house and gardens to plan your own trip, after seeing the photos below I know you will want to go too!
